Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Green Land Oils
1. Why are cold-pressed oils more expensive than refined oils?
Cold-pressed oils are extracted using the traditional wooden press (Marachekku) method, without heat or chemicals. This process yields only 35–45% oil from seeds, but it retains 100% of nutrients, aroma, and natural properties.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Refined oils, on the other hand, use high heat (up to 230°C) and chemicals like hexane to extract 98–99% oil, which makes them cheaper. But in the process, natural nutrients are destroyed, and artificial deodorizing is done to mask odors.
With cold-pressed oils, you may use less oil for cooking, but gain more health benefits – making it a true investment in wellness.
2. What is the difference between wood-pressed and cold-pressed oil?
Both methods follow the same principle: oils should be extracted at low temperatures to preserve nutrients.
-
Cold-Pressed Oil: Refers to any method where oil is extracted without heat.
-
Wood-Pressed Oil (Marachekku Oil): A type of cold-pressed oil where a wooden pestle is used to crush seeds slowly, ensuring the oil stays cool and nutrient-rich.
The quality of seeds and no chemical use are more important than the device used. At Green Land Oils, we use the traditional wooden press method for maximum purity.
3. Does coconut oil solidify in cold weather?
Yes ✅. Pure cold-pressed coconut oil naturally solidifies at cooler temperatures because it contains healthy saturated fats. This is a sign of purity. If your coconut oil doesn’t solidify at all, it may be adulterated with other oils.
4. Will sesame oil foam during deep frying?
Sesame oil is generally not recommended for deep frying, as it may foam due to its natural compounds. For best results, use groundnut oil or coconut oil for deep frying.
Traditional kitchen tip: Add a small piece of tamarind ball while heating sesame oil. This reduces foaming and makes the oil stable.
5. How can groundnut oil be used for cooking?
Green Land Groundnut Oil is one of the most versatile cooking oils:
-
Shallow frying & deep frying – thanks to its high smoke point.
-
Enhances food flavors without leaving a raw smell.
-
